Orange Beach Alabama using the LVUV to keep the beaches free of oil
Orange Beach, Alabama environmental engineer Kit Alexander reaches for one of her oil fluorescing spotlights to shed further light on the question of what's washing up on the pristine Orange Beach, AL. This isn't oil, not this time. The LVUV illuminates oil hydrocarbons, which show up as bright orange, on samples routinely taken from the beach. A recent concern was brought to her attention and when sampled, she concludes this is not part of the BP Oil spill. Officials in Orange Beach know that by constantly monitoring the changing state of the beach, they can be assured Orange Beach is as pristine as all would expect. more...
Alabama deploys the high-tech LVUV Oil Fluorescing Spotlight on the beaches of the Gulf
Orange Beach officials deploy Vertek LVUV Oil Fluorescing Spotlights to monitor the BP America oil spill cleanup process. Kit Alexander, an environmental engineer, knows that the LVUV illuminates specific signatures of contaminants (petroleum products and hydrocarbons of oil) in samples taken. Just walking along the beach, illuminating the sand in front of you can tell you right away that the cleanup crews are doing a good job. Still, the LVUV will quickly confirm if they are not.
